Rising temperatures, rain and wind are set to hit Hawke's Bay in the next few days.
Metservice meteorologist Claire Flynn says temperatures have been increasing since the start of the week and it is only going to get hotter.
A high of 28C is expected tomorrow, with showers becoming morefrequent in the afternoon and strong winds picking up in exposed areas. The occasional heavy rain will help offset the heat.
On Saturday, temperatures are expected to reach 25C, with widespread rain and heavy falls in the ranges. A northerly front will turn westerly later in the day.
The rain will begin to ease on Sunday, with showers in the morning but becoming fine.
While more than 20mm of rain was expected at the weekend, Ms Flynn said Hawke's Bay would escape the worst of it - western regions would be hit harder.
Those in southern Hawke's Bay should prepare to hold on to their hats, with Ms Flynn predicting the winds would be more extreme further south.
Next week's forecast included more rain and cloudy skies.
