Overheated competitors will have enjoyed the swim leg of Sunday's triathlon.
It was a case of swim, bike, run, swim at the triathlon and duathlon series in Napier.
As soon as athletes were across the finish line of the Shed 2-sponsored series, they headed straight back to Pandora Pond to cool off in the 30C heat on Sunday.
The heat meantsome athletes were sweating in their wetsuits and slowed many down on the 1 or 2-lap run around the pond.
However, it didn't slow down William Kelsey (Open) who was the fastest around the Courier Post standard distance triathlon (1300m swim, 42km cycle, 9km run).
With a time of 2h 2m 28s, he had a good lead over the next man home, Buck Buchanan who completed the course in 2h 10m 9s.
Karen Toulmin (Open) notched up another club win in 2h 06m 07s on the back of her age-group win at the Port of Tauranga half.
Toulmin and club member Linda Exeter-Grant now have the title of national long-distance champion for their age groups, Toulmin 30-34 and Exeter-Grant 50-54
Claudia Schueller-Weidekamm (vet 1) was the second woman home in the standard distance with 2h 15m 20s.
Junior and aquathon world champion for 16-18, Eva Goodisson was the quickest on the Avanti Plus Triathlon course (750m swim, 21km cycle, 4.5km run) in 1hr 4m 19s with Kate O'Malley (Open) coming in at 1h 6m 38s.
Jake Jackson-Grammer (56m 34s) was first in the junior men's field with Lachlan Cairns second (1h 33s).
Kairon Pimm (junior) backed up his win from last month with a quicker time of 43m 34s - the fastest male home on the Swim Gym short course (200m swim, 14km cycle, 2km run). Another junior, Luke Foster was second (50m 42s).
Alexandria Scurr (junior) was the women's winner in 45m 59s with Sally Wise (vet 2) second in 51m 04s.
Greg Morgan (vet 2) won the Broker Webb Risk Services Duathlon (4.5km run 21km cycle 2km run) in 1h 6m 33s.
