Three elective surgeries have been postponed at Hawke's Bay Hospital due to a lack of beds.
A spokesperson for the Hawke's Bay District Health Board said three surgeries had been postponed on Tuesday, and another patient is on standby.
"This happens from time-to-time when Hawke's Bay Hospital is busy and
wards are full, or when operating theatres have had to prioritise urgent and life threatening cases over less urgent cases, such as elective surgery.
"While the hospital is busy there is no specific illness such as flu that is causing the demand, rather a mixture of medical events and conditions.
"The patients who have had their operations postponed will be rescheduled as soon as possible," the spokesperson said.
