Molly Ballantyne loves the public exercise equipment installed in Queen Square in Hastings.
She just has one question: what are thights?
It took more than six months for the spelling mistake to be spotted by the eagle-eyed senior citizen.
The four vandal-proof machines were installed in Queen Square last year, including bars for
crunches with instructions to "raise and lower thights".
Ms Ballantyne, a member of a 60-plus exercise group, contacted Hawke's Bay Today when she noticed the mistake while using the equipment.
"I do love them and think they are great, every park should have them - I just got confused because I don't have thights," she said.
"What are thights?"
Council parks and properties assets manager, Colin Hosford, said the council was unaware of the mistake until contacted by Hawke's Bay Today.
"This sign is part of the standard signage supplied by the manufacturer of the equipment," he said.
"We will bring it to their attention and ask for a replacement sign."
The installation of the fitness equipment was a joint venture between the council and Health Hawke's Bay - Te Oranga Hawke's Bay, which aimed to raise the fitness level of people in the community.
