*  Very sad to see U-drive car track down Elwood Rd in Hastings is closing down for good soon, due to one complaining neighbour who lives next to noisy railway lines and on a main road that produces more noise than the track. A great place for car enthusiasts and boy racers to get off the public roads and onto a safe track. Gone. Not happy. Regards, Matt M
*  Art Deco rocks. Why does Hastings not get on board and they could rock, too! After all, they have some great buildings .
*  Great to see Christchurch City Council expanding its contracting firm City Care. Shame it is in Hastings at the expense of a local firm. Great to have a backbone of unlimited funds backed by a tax rebuild of Christchurch. Sam, Taradale
*  To the council: Are you serious? Please take those handsome broken-as-looking bike thingys back to the op shop. Honestly, they are making Hastings look worse. Come on, Lawrence Yule.
*  Just watched 2 school students cycle down Maraekakaho Rd in very busy traffic, in the oncoming lane from Southampton St into the distance, thinking it's a great joke. KSS
*  Hey WF, re smoking. Here's a thought: If you don't like polluted air then stay indoors. Pollution is everywhere and whether you like it or not, smokers have rights, too, like smoking outside. Get a life and talk about some real issues.
*  A slow driver is an obstructive driver. That is why the road code says move over and let others pass.
*  Mike Hosking, stick to gelling your hair and trying to look young and leave our mayor and town alone. Rastes, Wairoa
*  No, John D, you are not alone with the hysterical-type noises from the female tennis players. I tried watching at 3am but gave up. Sounded like labour pains! MP
*  Get rid of Kronic full stop!

OPINION: It's a blemish on NZ's clean, green image and it's high time something was done.
