State Highway 2 crash near Ōtāne leaves one person critically injured

A two-vehicle crash has closed State Highway 2 near Ōtāne.

Two people are injured after a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 2 near Ōtāne, Central Hawke’s Bay.

A police spokesperson said emergency services were called around 9.15am today.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said two patients were assessed at the scene.

One was transported to Hawke’s Bay Hospital by helicopter in a critical condition.

The other was taken to the hospital by ambulance in a minor condition.

Both north and southbound lanes were blocked following the crash.

The road was fully reopened at 11am.

The Serious Crash Unit had been notified about the incident.
