Hospital sale

*   Hear, hear. I agree with Alan Rhodes comments on the hospital site sale. We have all been conned. Again. Graham Barclay

*   Disgraceful event sale of Napier hospital. Deliberately allowed to be vandalised and wrecked by the Government to enable sale to cronies. No comment from MP Tremain who ducked for cover no doubt to Hawaii with his boss Mr Key.

Other thoughts

*   To the violinist busking on Emerson St, well done. You were just super. Good to see some of today's young showing initiative. To the nurses and everyone on earth. We will always get mocked, from time to time. Be strong and love the mockers, cause we are all special. David.

*   Most homecare workers get paid just above the minimum wage. In 15 years wages have only increased from $9.70 per hour to $13.45. Would be nice to be appreciated by DHB.

*   In reply to people talking through fundraiser concert: Why did they go in first place if they were, as Pip said, "incredibly rude".

*   Re Text of the Day. Most if not all phones should have a keylock on them so mishaps like this don't occur. Also it costs the caller money which in some peoples cases is hard to come by. AJF

*   Had to laugh at news reports of Hastings council removing new traffic islands at a cost of $10k to Hastings ratepayers, then article below - Hastings council paying $50k researching amalgamation. Really Lawrence, you might need to find something to offer us in Napier other than your display of fund mismanagement, high debt, empty shops and marketing eggs - oops - I mean balls.

*   Big thank you to HB Today for tickets i won to Baby and Child show. Had a great time!

*   Last Friday's headline should have said families go hungry as alcohol and cigarette prices skyrocket.

*   Thumbs down to middle age and young mother picking flowers on Marine Parade last Sunday. Grow your own and why? What's wrong with me doing it? Well dopey the gardens would be bare.

*   So sorry for children who get no breakfast at home. We have part time work, don't have Sky TV or computer. Some who earn less than us do have Sky etc how come? Pay your bills first.

*   Thanks to the lady in The Warehouse for your kindness to my boy when you gave him money to help pay for his cars and then gave him your change. You made his day and mine, glad there are still kind genuine people out there like you.

*   I was a little late paying Telecom bill and got charged $11 for late payment was so surprised is this legal?

*   If I ever find a sick bird on the beach I wring its neck so all us over taxed citizens don't have to fork out all that money when people need it. What is going on in NZ? Baza

*   Nice worker,Reece at Greenmeadows New World .

*   Shame on Taradale postie who always folds large envelopes and ruins photos. You have been told many times.

*   The HDC must be congratulated for the way its spent ratepayers funds to turn Wilson Rd, especially between Manchester St and Flaxmere Ave, from a reasonably safe road to a rather dangerous one!

*   Oh dear, how ill informed (anonymous texter 31/08). If a community is inundated by a tsunami the burden of reinstatement doesn't fall on its nearest neighbour, it falls on accumulated taxpayer funds, as in Government and its various disaster' agencies (assuming any remain solvent). Did you really think Ashburton was paying to fix Christchurch? DBS.

*   State funeral for sir Paul Reeves was live on the Maori Chanel

*   "Spirit of Napier, Golden Girl - who is she really? The only one I know of is Pania reef legend. What is this spirit of Napier? Was there such a woman here, if so what did she do for Napier? SJ

*   Wyn Drabble should write an article in Kiwenglish explaining to ex pats the meaning of such words as mondayisation; four laning; roading; the rebuild etc. As an English teacher he can have some fun with a good English dictionary.

*   Congratulations to who is responsible for tidying up buildings along road at Awatoto. MC

*   Thank you and congratulations to all the organisers, umpires, helpers and fantastic kids at the annual Spooner Shield sports tournament. A very successful day!

*   To the head honcho of Housing New Zealand: Resign now. You wasted one million of our money fighting people who refused to leave your houses when asked to politely. Now after all that, you change your mind. I know for a fact you wouldn't treat your other tenants with such leniency. Disgusting! LB

*   Congratulations to Hastings Central School for their show. Great show. Shame about the many people holding cameras above their heads obstructing views of people behind. Elsie.

*   Sad Trinity the sea lion died but sadder we unable to visit Marineland. My moko loved the live sea lion show in Sydney. Wish this were possible here.
