Church sign

*    I have seen a sign on the Church down York Ave that says 'Jesus heals cancer.' That is load of crap. Insult to people who lost their loved ones.

*    Disgusted with cancer statement and made worse on TV by so called pastor's shabby, insensitive attitude.

*    Re: Billboard at Equippers church 'Jesus heals cancer'. How ignorant and cruel to put up a misleading message like that!

*    Re Jesus and cancer: Great idea, now they can stay at home and get cured and other people can get treatment quicker. Think of the cost savings.

*    Re Jesus heals cancer. The woman complaining needs to see it for what it is. Trying to get more people into the church is what it's about. They are claiming people from this church have been ill and have got better. Was it their faith or the medicine/radiation they are on. I know first hand about these sort of people. They will see the work of Jesus in anything that suits their story. Don't hate them for what they do because some things they do are very good. Mainly with youth. They believe they are doing good work for Jesus, but often they are alienating themselves from those around them.

*    Re Jesus heals: Would there be the same uproar if the billboard said Allah, Dali Lama etc heals? I think not. MB

*    Regarding the church on York Ave: Words can't even describe how disgusting and disrespectful the new billboard is. Needs looking into.

The Mission

*    Mark Story's editorial on Rod's after-party was a load of rubbish! Well done.

*    Mission Concert: Rod superb but paying for seats and having people dancing and standing in the aisle spoiling view was disappointing. $225 for seat with view of dancing people not good enough - rip off.

*    In such an OSH (occupational health safety) world where you can't even pick your nose without a risk accessment plan, I find it astonishing that the Mission allows 25,000 people to wander over a paddock of broken bottles, glass and rubbish before herding them down a farm track with fence posts and other obstructions, then allowing them to mix with busy traffic on Church Rd! You would think after 20 years there would be more bins and a better evacuation plan! It's an embarrassment and dangerous! But I guess having the liquor tents running smoothly this year was more a priority!

Other thoughts

*    Do we have to have the people with clipboards in the Hastings trying to get us to sign up for things like Green Peace? I am sick of being harassed by them.

*    OMG! Animal agony! You left the kitten for hours dying until your husband got home because you don't like animals? Where the hell is your compassion? How cruel!

*    Re injured kitten. Fancy leaving poor thing for hours suffering on the road! You have no compassion. Why didn't you take it to the vet? Unbelievable. Matt

*    I wonder if coffee shop owners give a little extra to staff too busy to have a break with weekend influx?

*    The Awatoto Golf Course increased the sub to stay on 'par' with the upward 'swing' of costs that 'drive' prices up and in a 'fair way' so that the 'club' does not 'sink' down a financial 'hole' in these 'rough' economic times! A little 'birdie' told me and yes...it's feathers were 'green'.

*    Come on Hastings Council, remove those tree stumps in our Cobham Street Park! My moko and all their mates want to know are you going to be long? Yawn yawn! INS

*    I purchased a gate from Wrightsons and they delivered it in Hastings for free! Thanks for the friendly and helpful service!

*    I agree with text re Winz paying to wrong people. It doesn't pay to be a decent person today, only the bad get help. NN

*    To asthma sufferer Gary Britten. Cut out all sugar from your diet. Also drink camomile tea and inhale camomile tea steam from a bowl with a towel over your head.

*    Hi I saw your text in paper. I work at a W Holder in Ellison St, Hastings, and can quote you on your bathroom goods.

*    Hi, I am texting in regards to the comments I saw in the paper someone was looking for a bath with claw feet. I have one available Phone HB Today on 873 7536 for my number. Lannis Kohu

*    For the person looking for classic style bathroom fittings. Early Settler. Great range at reasonable prices and it's all new!

*    How many more families are going to suffer the loss of a loved one because of a judge's decision and our stupid bail laws. Wen will our Government do something?

*    I don't know about anyone else but I seem to spend a lot more time looking at my speedo now rather than the road. If you go over 100kms you get a ticket. I can't afford one of those. Hello - we can't all afford to have the luxury of cruise control in our cars either. Sure sign of an accident waiting to happen is what I think.

*    Good on John Key for clamping down on beneficiaries. My daughter has leukemia and has had to get a part time to make ends meet, while these other fit, able bodied bums sit around happy to let the tax payer support them. Get them fruit picking or something. Make them tidy up the town, removing graffiti for example. KB
