Hawke's Bay woman Tammy Te Whaiti relaxes in a designer walk-in bath as Caroline Walmsley looks on at the Hawke's Bay Home & Garden Show, yesterday.

Auckland business Walk in Baths may sell their first designer double tub, if inquiries from their stall at yesterday's Home & Garden show are anything to go by.

"It was very positive - I don't know what it is about Hawke's Bay, there must be something in the air, but we had a lot of people asking if we do a two-person bath," Caroline Walmsley, of Walk In Baths, said.

"The answer is 'yes' but they would be the first to have one. Because they are made in Auckland we can twiddle with the design."

It may seem like an unusual concept, but for local people hoping to conserve space in an apartment or en suite, they were a popular consideration.

The design is simple - the bath is tall rather than wide and has a door on one side so the user doesn't have to climb over a high lip. It also has a seat inside for extra comfort.

"We went through a lot more brochures than we expected to on a day like this.

"People who are looking to make the most of a small space are our biggest market and ... they are easy to get in and out of."

DIY enthusiasts and those looking for a little outdoor inspiration should get along to the Hawke's Bay Home & Garden show at McLean Park in Napier this weekend. The show runs from 9.30am to 5pm today and tomorrow with more than 180 stallholders on hand to answer questions and offer solutions.

People can preview designer trends in kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, furniture, appliances and outdoors, with more plant stalls than before.

An EIT landscape garden display is another point of interest, with visitors asked to vote for their favourite - Kiwi seaside bach garden or early settlers' cottage garden.

Enter to win a three-night Fiji Island cruise for two including return airfares from Auckland or More FM plus Resene vouchers worth $2500.

There are spot prizes at the More FM Home & Garden Challenge and a limited edition BMW superbike on display.

Entry is $7 per adult or free with an adult when under 16.
