Shoplifters revealed on store CCTV

Butane torches were the targets for two groups of people who were later caught through CCTV footage at the Mega Mitre 10 store in Pandora.

One of three males who were seen wandering through the store one morning recently was seen helping himself to a butane kit.

He was identified and arrested.

Later on the same day the butane torch section also attracted the attention of what a police spokesman described as "two very well known female shoplifters" and both decided to garb a torch each.

The spokesman said they were easily identified from the CCTV footage.

While butane is most commonly used as a means to melt some metals, as well as for kitchen use or as a form of lighter, the torches had sometimes been come across as a means of vapourising free-base cocaine (crack), methamphetamine or cannabis oil for inhalation.

Several days later it was plumbing equipment which attracted thieves and again CCTV led to their being identified.

A man was seen taking two tap mixers and two females were picked up after taking a shower mixer.
