Serious crash in Hastings, one person airlifted to hospital

One person has been airlifted by helicopter to hospital after a car crashed into a fence on a rural road outside Hastings.

Police and Fire services said the accident occurred this afternoon on Matapiro Rd, trapping one person in a car.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified and the road is being closed.
