For the Dannevirke Sports rugby teams, last Saturday's contests were definitely games of two halves.
Both the club's Premier 2 and Colts played at the same time on Dannevirke's Rugby Park and both were up against formidable opposition.
The Premier 2 team were looking good going into halftime, with 14
points on the board against College Old Boys, but in the second half the opposition got the upper hand and Dannevirke Sports went down 19-29.
On the back paddock, Dannevirke Sports Colts were up against Bush Colts and, although the Pahiatua-based team made an early impression, Dannevirke took hold of the game, winning 49-26.
It was a disappointing game for the southern team, Bush Rugby president Gareth McKay said. "We just lacked numbers and it's hard to keep going when you've got no reserves. They just ran out of legs."
