As Glenis Tyson inspected the damage done to her fence by a speeding car at the weekend, she said it would only be a matter of time before a person got hit.
Mrs Tyson arrived home on Saturday night to find someone had misjudged the sweeping corner of Jellicoe and Collinge
St, Hastings, where she lives, and driven through her fence, narrowly missing her house.
``People come zooming around that corner and don't realise that it's such a sweeping bend,'' Mrs Tyson said just moments before a car crossed the centre line as it turned the corner.
``It's roads like these that encourage boy racers to take it on as a challenge. It's not just boy racers though, I see a lot of adult drivers take on this corner.''
It had been 10 years since a car last hit the fence and she knows it won't be the last unless something is done. The current layout of the corner was set up five years ago. Mrs Tyson yesterday called in roading experts to assess the damage and seek a solution.
``We have a few schools in the area so there are children walking by here all the time,'' Mrs Tyson said. ``How are drivers to know there isn't some kid crossing the road around this corner?''
While Mrs Tyson was the only person talking to media yesterday, she said she had the support of her neighbours who were keen to see change before it was too late.
