Rescue helicopter called after rural Hawke’s Bay quad bike accident, 1 person injured

One person was injured after a quad bike overturned near Kereru.

Emergency services are responding to a report of an overturned quad bike leaving one person trapped in rural Hawke’s Bay.

Police were called to Big Hill Rd near Kereru about 1pm.

A police spokeswoman said one person was injured.

“A rescue helicopter is in attendance.”

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said the service also responded with a crew from the Mararekakaho Rural Fire Brigade to reports that a person was trapped.

“They ascertained that the patient had been released, and an ambulance was there.”

The spokesman said the call came in at 12.47pm, which was during the New Zealand Professional Firefighters’ industrial action.
