Police said CCTV footage is proving very useful in the investigation of the violent death of a man in Flaxmere on Sunday night.

Detective Senior Sergeant Martin James said there were about 26 to 27 investigators and police staff on the ground yesterday.

"The information coming from the public has also been quite useful, and achieved what we wanted it to," he said.

The victim was yet to be formally identified but police warned those responsible it was "only a matter of time before we arrive on your doorstep".

The comment came two days after the death of the man who was found with serious injuries outside the Flaxmere Tavern.

A scene examination continued over Monday night and police expected to remain there for the remainder of yesterday and into the evening.

Officers said items of interest were found near the tavern, which remained closed while the investigation was carried out.

Detective Senior Sergeant Marty James was continuing to appeal for people with information which could assist the investigation to come forward.

"There are people in the Flaxmere community who know who is responsible for this man's death," James said.

"We want those people to step up, and get in touch with us at the earliest opportunity.
