Police had late yesterday made no arrest in relation to an assault on a teenaged girl on her way to school in Napier on Monday.

Detective Mike Signal said police would be investigating people nominated as possible suspects but there had been no further information yesterday relating to sightings of the cyclist who is said to have grabbed the girl from behind and pulled her hair near the intersection of Glamorgan Ave and Lanark Cres, a short distance from Tamatea High School.

The incident was reported about 8.30am on Monday, and the man, described as middle-aged, European in appearance and smelling of alcohol, was last reported to have been cycling away on Glamorgan Ave.
