It's time to nominate the Hawke's Bay Today Person of the Year.

It's time to nominate the Hawke's Bay Today Person of the Year.

Nominations for the 2015 Hawke's Bay Today Person of the Year are under way but we still need you to tell us who you think deserves this honour.

The judging panel, which will soon be announced, will decide on a winner late next month.

Who are we looking for? It's simple.

Someone who has made a significant contribution to the Hawke's Bay community in terms of charity, fundraising or other non-profit organisations.

Or someone who has achieved remarkable success in their chosen business, career or sport.

Maybe a local who has demonstrated courageous or heroic actions? Inaugural winner Flaxmere Boxing Academy head coach Craig McDougall was the judges' unanimous choice in 2013 because of the contribution he had made to the community, and youth in particular.

Last year's winner, paediatrician and Children's Commissioner Russell Wills, was also voted in unanimously. He said he was rapt to receive the 2014 Hawke's Bay Today Person of the Year award because it would raise the profile of needing to make life better for many children, and acknowledge the work "so many people" have done.

Hawke's Bay Today editor Andrew Austin said the aim of the award was to recognise those doing great things in our community.

"We have some incredible people doing some incredible things in our midst.

"Some of them have been honoured in the past, some not. We want our readers to nominate them so they can receive the praise they deserve."

-All nominations can be emailed to news@hbtoday.co.nz with a few sentences explaining why you have chosen to nominate that person. The winner of Hawke's Bay Today Person of the Year 2015 will be announced before Christmas.
