Construction will begin shortly on a new PAK'nSAVE store in Tamatea - right next to the current store it will replace.
The new store will be part of a retail hub, with an adjoining eight stores also being built.
Angela Bull, Foodstuffs North Island Limited general manager for property developmentsaid the existing store had served the local community well for many years.
"However it is time for a new store, and we have taken the opportunity to design a new store which has plenty of natural light, wider aisles and a spacious retail environment to provide a lighter, brighter and modern PAK'nSAVE for our customers to shop at. We are delighted to be investing in the Tamatea community and working with a local team, including Mackersey Construction Ltd and local tradesmen to build the new PAK'nSAVE."
The new store, which will be constructed alongside the existing store next to the roundabout of Durham, Coventry and Leicester Avenues, will be 5,500m2 and provide 327 car parks.
The owner-operators of PAK'nSAVE Tamatea are excited about the investment in the store and community, Foodstuffs said in a statement.
The current store will be open while the new store is constructed alongside, and customers will be able to watch and follow the progress as the new store takes shape. There will be plenty of car parking available, and the PAK'nSAVE team will make sure customers can do all their shopping in a safe and convenient environment.
Construction will start shortly and the new store will be ready to open in late 2016.
