Police have named the man who was killed in a crash north of Hawke's Bay Airport yesterday afternoon.
He was 56-year-old Trevor Paul Hampton from Bayview.
Mr Hampton died after the car he was driving collided with a logging truck along State Highway Two 1km north of the airport.
Emergency
services were called just after 2pm and the state highway was closed to traffic until 7:45pm last night.
An investigation into the crash is continuing and police extend their condolences to the man's family.
