A luxury lodge nestled in Hawke's Bay's tranquil countryside is now on the market in an opportunity to buy a piece of local history.

Built in 1898 Mareakakaho's Greenhill Lodge holds rich Hawke's Bay heritage and is a globally recognised luxury accommodation lodge.

Marketed by Colliers International, Greenhill Lodge was once a part of Mareakakaho Station and is now operated as part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World on a 29.5-hectareproperty.

Colliers International broker Danny Blair says that this is a great opportunity for a buyer to own this property as a private residence or continue to operate it as boutique luxury accommodation.

Mr Blair said Greenhill Lodge is just one of nine New Zealand hotels that are a part of the network of 520 Small Luxury Hotels of the World

"Greenhill Lodge was recently awarded the highest accolade for Small Luxury Hotels in 2016 with the 'Commitment to Quality award' rated as the best hotel globally for quality amongst the hotels in the group. The new owner has the opportunity to continue this membership so long as the quality of the property is maintained at a luxury level," he says.

Located 25 minutes from Napier and just 15 minutes to Hastings, the lodge offers accommodation through seven guest rooms and suites, while the primary building offers amenities including a drawing room, dining room and billiard room.

There are also a range of outdoor spaces including a deep north-facing veranda, rear sheltered courtyard, manicured gardens and significant views across the surrounding farmland.

The farm land is leased to Opuatia Farms and the lease expires in February 2018; it is expected that a new lease may be agreed without much difficulty.

The property is for sale by negotiation.
