Lionel Richie fans left damp and disappointed by the washed-out Mission Concert last year can smile again with news the performer has put Napier on his March touring map.
The man, famous for songs such as Dancing on the Ceiling and All Night Long, is set to take the stage at
the Church Road Winery, on March 19, as part of an Australasian Day on the Green tour.
After the February 28 Mission Concert was scuttled by unseasonal rain, Richie said he would be back to sing for his fans one day.
The Napier concert is one of three New Zealand appearances for Richie - he will play the Vector Arena, in Auckland, on March 18, and the TSB Bank Arena, in Wellington, on March 20.
It's the third major concert in as many months being staged at the Taradale open-air venue next year. Joe Cocker is set to take the stage on January 29 and Crowded House on February 26.
Opening for the Lionel Richie concert will be Guy Sebastian, 2003 Australian Idol winner.
Prices for the show will be the most expensive of the three concerts - silver reserved seats are $150 and gold reserved seats are $220. Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster on December 14.
