Internet wunderkind Jamie Curry has a secret - though one she recently shared with more than 1,300,00 subscribers on YouTube.

Adding to her online empire, the cyber sensation now has a number one bestseller on Amazon.

The former Hawke's Bay teen is now based in Auckland and making a living online.

New Zealand's most famed social media star started out filming amusing slice of life videos as a 16-year-old from her Taradale bedroom in 2012.

It wasn't long before Jamie's World exploded from a hugely popular Facebook page onto YouTube, where followers throughout the globe can keep up with her latest antics.

What began as a hobby most recently led to a book deal, with a signed edition quickly shooting to No.1 bestseller on amazon.co.uk.

They Let Me Write a Book is filled with musings from her childhood, welcoming others into her "world" with personal tales from primary school, intermediate and beyond.

"Inside is my life so far, and what I've learned - or haven't learned - along the way," she says.

"My cowboy hat years, the year I dug a big hole, and the time I pulled down my pants at a badminton game.

"I'll tell you my top travel tips [drink water], how to have fun at a school ball [don't go] and how to be an adult [eat an oyster], and I'll talk about YouTube, because I suppose that's what got us into this mess in the first place."

It seems fitting that the 18-year-old officially announced the release on her channel, remaining apologetic to fans for becoming, 'another YouTuber with another book'.

In her own self-conscious millennial manner she poked fun at herself before others get the chance: "yeah, because I'm 18 and I have heaps of life experience".

If comments are anything to go by, it's already a hit.

"Okay I'm obsessed with your channel so this book is just going to be rad," one person said.

For HarperCollins' NZ publisher Finlay Macdonald it was a no brainer to take the next step - after all Curry's Facebook page is now followed by over 10 million people.

"She's truly original, and that is what every publisher is looking for."
