Kereru Farm Open Day attracts 100

Simon and Trudy Hales' Kereru Farm field day on Thursday March 28, held to celebrate winning the Ballance Horizons Environment Award.

The weather held and there were around 100 people which was excellent, the Hales said. Most were locals but a number had travelled to the farm.

There was much interest in the programmes Simon and Trudy had to strengthen the resilience of the farm and protect its environment.

Looking at river fencing - a key component in keeping rivers clean.

The couple won the People in Primary Sector, Livestock Farm, Agri-Business Management, Predator Free and Farm Stewardship awards as well as the Supreme Award.

A fleet of side-by-sides helped visitors get around.

Simon and Trudy had excellent feedback and say the day was very successful.
