A car crashed into a power pole and a fence and left 1000 homes briefly without power in Maraenui, Napier.
Police were called to the incident on Percy Spiller Avenue near Charles Corner Crescent at 7.19am today.
The power pole fell onto the road, which was blocked asa result, with traffic management requested.

A Unison spokesperson said initially around 1000 homes and businesses were affected, and half had their power restored within five minutes.
