Fire and Emergency New Zealand said specialist lifting equipment was being used in a motor vehicle crash on private land near Te Pōhue.

Emergency services are responding to a motor vehicle crash on private land near Te Pōhue, leaving one person seriously injured.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand, Hato Hone St John and police were called to the scene near Ohurakura Rd about 9.15am on Monday.

A police spokeswoman said one person received injuries to their leg and body.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said it was notified of an incident and responded with one ambulance.

“One patient, in serious condition, is being transported to Hawke’s Bay Hospital.”

A Fire and Emergency spokesman said one fire truck from Te Pōhue was in attendance, and specialist lifting equipment was being used.

“It’s called a Stokes basket (stretcher), for ease of carrying a patient.”
