Cranford Hospice is asking people to "go orange for Cranford" in March for its annual appeal.

This year Cranford Hospice need to fundraise more than $3 million to ensure their services remain at no cost for patients and families.

"That's why we need people to show their support for Cranford Hospice during this appeal," Cranford Hospice's marketing and fundraising manager, Sheena Revington said.

Cranford Hospice patient Dene said: "When it boils down to it, it's not knowing that's scary. But the beauty of Cranford is knowing that with their help, you can hopefully go back into your own home and environment.

"It's good to know what services are available, like counselling when the family members need it, and an occupational therapist who comes in with equipment to help us at home.

"These are things you don't usually ask for, because you don't know you need it. It's good to know Cranford are there when you need them," he said.

Everyday Cranford Hospice supports over 150 people aged between 1 and 101 through palliative care, education and advice to people in Hawke's Bay.

Workplaces, schools and community groups can fundraise by holding an orange-themed mufti day, a morning tea, or invite customers to donate at the till.

There will also be an annual street appeal from Thursday, March 26-28.

Nearly 400 volunteers will be out in orange with collection buckets on Hawke's Bay streets.
