The Hastings Gang Disruption Unit and Offender Prevention Team carried out search warrants at two Akina properties.

Two people are before the courts as a result of an operation targeting the sale and supply of methamphetamine in the Hastings area.

On Wednesday, the Hastings Gang Disruption Unit and Offender Prevention Team carried out search warrants at two Akina properties.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Kris Payne said during the search, police located a 3D-printed firearm, ammunition and firearm parts.

Also located at the property were around 2.5 grams of methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of ecstasy, 2.3 millilitres of GHB and around $4000 cash.

Payne said there were also indications of intent to supply.

“A 44-year-old woman was arrested at the property and charged with obstruction, assaults police, and resisting police. She is due to appear in Hastings District Court on January 19.“

After further inquiries into the matter, a 47-year-old man was located on Thursday evening and was taken into custody without incident.

“The man is due to appear in Hastings District Court today, charged with possession of methamphetamine for supply, possession of ecstasy for supply, failure to carry out obligations in relation to a computer search, and three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.”

Payne said police will continue to target the supply of drugs in the Hastings area as they see the harm that it causes within the community.

Anyone with information about the sale and supply of illicit drugs can provide information to Police online at 105.police.govt.nz and clicking “Make a Report”, or by calling 105.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers online or call 0800 555 111.
