All lights were green during a three-car collision at a Hastings intersection yesterday , say the three female drivers involved.

Constable Jade Jeffers said two of the three cars had crashed at the Tomoana Rd and Saint Aubyn St West traffic light intersection at about 5.10pm but the cause of the crash remained a mystery.

"We've talked to all the drivers but are still unaware of what happened," Mr Jeffers said.

We have an independent witness we want to talk to. Depending on what that witness says and once we know for sure what has happened, there may be driving charges."

The woman driving south-west along Tomoana Rd simply remembers a loud bang before ploughing into a fence and telecommunications box on the corner of the junction.

"It was quite scary and I've got a bit of a sore chest from the seatbelt."

She was only a couple of blocks from her home after finishing work for the day and was adamant she was on a green light.

The other female driver involved in the initial collision was driving north-west on St Aubyn St West and received bruising from the crash.

"As far as I'm aware I was on a green light, she said."

The third female driver was waiting to turn right into Saint Aubyn Street West before the two cars came hurtling toward her.

"I was just sitting here, stationary, just waiting to and getting ready to turn," she said.

"It just happened so fast - they both just crashed into each other.
