"The Team Wellington game is all I'm focusing on. We play every game to win and this is another one of those," Lekaj said.
Because of this focus, Lekaj, 22, wasn't prepared to comment on whether he intends returning for another crack in New Zealand after the 2014-15 Premiership ends.
"I'll leave that for later on when I talk with Brett [Angell] and my manager but I'm enjoying my first time in New Zealand. It's very nice ... I have fun in every game and I enjoy the trainings and everything else about the team."
A solid player with speed, Lekaj, said the left wing position was his preferred role but he did not mind being used as a midfielder when required. He started football as a 5-year-old .
Fellow Croatian and Leicester City striker Andres Kranaric is the sportsperson he admires the most and if he could be anyone for a day it would be Brazilian Ronaldinho Gaucho because he enjoys himself when he plays.
The only footballer among the three children in his family, Lekaj, believed the visitors had a good chance of winning tomorrow if they kept their error count down and had a bit of luck.
"You always need luck," he added.
Like his Team Wellington counterpart Matt Calcott, Angell, is looking for improvement on the 2-all draw with Team Wellington at Park Island in November. Angell wants more of the same with the ball and some improvement without it.
"In our attacking elements we were quite bright and we want to do that again," Angell said.
"Defensively we need to focus a little bit more. We need to develop to the point where we eradicate those soft goals."
Angell said despite his troops occupying a top four berth, they were still a work in progress and if the team were to maintain their play-off push among what was a crowded mid-table they needed to take control of their own destiny.
"We've scored in every game outside of Auckland City last week and we've certainly changed our playing style and there is still an element of trying to bed that down.
"If where we sit is going to remain true, we need to get as many points as possible and we can't rely on others to help us out. Going to Wellington, it's not a place where we feel we can't get the result we need and we're going there looking to get the points."
Leading scorer Ryan Tinsley returns after suspension to help in that objective but his inclusion is balanced by the loss of Mario Barcia through suspension. Angell said the developing depth of the team should be able to cope.
"Ryan's return is always going to help the side and he's played in a number of positions for us. Losing Mario tests our strength but I'm confident whoever comes in to take his place will do the job."
Team Wellington captain and former Hawke's Bay United leader Bill Robertson quite rightly pointed out the hosts will be stronger than in November in the wake of former Phoenix player Paul Ifill and former All White Ian Hogg joining the roster. Striker-midfielder Ifill will play his first game for Team Wellington as he begins his quest to return to the Phoenix after injury.
Defender Hogg, who played at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics with the New Zealand Under-23 side, signed for Team Wellington earlier this month and is eager for game time after a break to refresh himself.
"Obviously a player of Paul's ability adds to the squad and with Ian we're stronger than ever before," Robertson said.
He stressed his team hadn't forgotten how gutted they were after the November draw with his former team.
"That's hard to forget. We need to pick up three points to stay at the top of the table," Robertson added.
