Hawke's Bay United have signed national age-group football goalkeeper Adam McDonald this summer.
McDonald has moved from Auckland in search of regular first-team games to try to gain a spot in the New Zealand Under-20 side ahead of the Fifa U20 World Cup to be held in New Zealand in
June next year.
"Hawke's Bay has opened up a lot of opportunities for me, to be able to come down start fresh and to really push my development on, in search of the World Cup next year," says the 18-year-old before the ASB Premiership kicks off.
Coming off a successful season with Western Springs, winning the league and gaining promotion to the Lotto NRFL Men's Premier League under All Whites assistant coach Neil Emblen, McDonald is relishing the opportunity to play at the next level.
"I want to push myself on and start to make a name for myself. I obviously want to stay in the country but this is, hopefully, that stepping stone to much more."
