Those in the Hawke's Bay region can look forward to a week of fine weather as the winter season fast approaches.
Metservice meteorologist Hannah Moes said weather would be largely settled for the working week.
"It looks like New Zealand is under a westerly flow throughout much of the week and what that means for the east coast is that it's generally pretty sheltered and there will be plenty of fine weather in the east."
With no rain in sight for the week's forecast, Ms Moes said temperatures would remain warm with the maximum reaching 22 degrees and the coldest overnight low dropping to eight degrees.
"It's very much normal temperatures for this time of year so you're looking at high temperatures in the early 20s and overnight minimum temperatures in the single digits," the meteorologist said.
Fine weather was forecast for Monday and Tuesday, with westerlies developing on Tuesday before conditions became patchy on Wednesday morning.
Ms Moes said there would be some wind throughout the week but the strongest gusts had passed at the weekend.
"It's dying out through Monday and then just westerly breezes for most of the rest of the week...it's just a fairly settled week.
"It looks like it's quite nice for the eastern part of the North Island."
Thursday would be mainly fine with light winds until the weather deteriorated to wet conditions late Friday.
The meteorologist said this time period spell the end of the week's fine weather.
"A ridge of high pressure dominates over the North Island for much of the week and it looks like a trough beings to move over the country late on Friday."
The weekend forecast was for rain with light winds on both Saturday and Sunday, which was set to continue into the next week as showery weather.
