The trial of a teenager charged with the manslaughter of 2-year-old Matiu Wereta in Flaxmere 14 months ago is expected to be held over two weeks in the High Court in Napier in February.
The boy died in Hawke's Bay Hospital after allegedly being assaulted at a house in ColumbusCircle, Flaxmere, mid-morning on October 13, 2015.
Initially charged with assault, Tamehana Huata, aged 17 at the time and now 19, denies a charge of manslaughter. The trial is scheduled to start on February 13.
