Police are seeking a person who helped out at a crash scene on the outskirts of Napier.
Police are looking for a witness to a crash on the outskirts of Napier in which an elderly man was killed last month.
The crash occurred at the intersection of State Highway 2 and Meeanee Quay on September 30. A 75-year-old pedestrian, Murray Anthony Reid, who had been walking hisbike across SH 2 at the intersection, was struck and killed by a southbound truck.
Police say an unknown woman who helped at the scene may have vital information about how the crash occurred.
Senior Constable Cory Ubels, of the serious crash unit, wants to hear from anyone who was driving, or may know of a person who was driving, a red Honda CRX or similar model two-door sports car who stopped to assist at the scene.
"It appears the red Honda sports car had been travelling southbound on SH 2 behind the truck involved in this crash. The driver of that vehicle may be able to assist police to determine the events that lead up to the crash," Mr Ubels said.
The person driving the red Honda is described as a well-dressed woman in business clothes with shoulder-length, straight dark hair, possibly in her 30s to 40s.
Police would also like to thank other members of the public who helped at the crash scene, called for emergency services assistance and tended to the injured victim.
Anyone with information about the red Honda sports car and/or the driver of that vehicle should contact Mr Ubels at Hawke's Bay Police on 06 2113644.
