A is for acceptance ... of all my ups and downs;

B is for baking ... we still love to raid the tins: peanut brownies, fudge;

C is for cross words ... sorry for the times I have hurt your feelings;

D is for dreams ... I never thought about
your lost dreams until an episode of Wonder Years;

E is for embarrassing ... remember when you said to my cricket coach, "oh, you're the one who doesn't like my son";

F is for French ... I like the fact you gave us French blood in our veins to go with the British;

G is for grandchildren ... five girls and one boy who get the same attention we got;

H is for home ... you made our house a home; I is for incredible ... that you agreed, while in town, to buy Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols on my behalf;

J is for June ... and a birthday to remember;

K is for kindness ... the birthday cake maker, the Easter bunny and a bone for the dog;

L is for Lawn Bowls ... much as it pains me, you are the most decorated sportsperson in our family;

M is for music ... all those musicals - who would know how much work and passion you put into them;

N is for Nana ... your Mum - who could forget the pikelets, and the endless supply of cold roast potatoes in the fridge;

O is for occasion ... you've always been one for a party, and took to the birthday limousine with relish;

P is for protection ... from Dad, when I crashed the Mini into a school building;

Q is for quirky ... like always making an excuse as to why you haven't heard my car coming up the drive (it's your ears!);

R is for reliability ... you always support us when we need you;

S is for sacrifices ... what you have made time and again for your family;

T is for table tennis ... I did let you beat me that time;

U is for understanding ... you always say the right thing when the chips are down;

V is for values ... what you instilled in us; W is for "women's problems" ... I am an adult now!;

X is for Xmas presents ... you always said, "I didn't know what to get you", but you always did;

Y is for yesterday ... the last time I spoke to you;

Z is for zillions ... the only value that could be put on the love and support you have offered me throughout my life. Thanks Mum.

It's Mother's Day on Sunday. Don't you forget it!
