Jay Sorensen, of Logan Stone, won the New Zealand Young Property Professional of the Year award in June.

At just 28 years of age, Jay Sorensen has been appointed a director of valuation and property services firm Logan Stone.

A Hawke's Bay local, he joined the company in 2008 and has become one of the region's leading primary-sector valuers. He was named the New Zealand Young Property Professional of the Year at the Property Institute of New Zealand conference in June.

He joins Frank Spencer and Boyd Gross as directors of Logan Stone, established almost 30 years ago.

Mr Spencer said Mr Sorensen's appointment broadened the firm's capability and expertise. "We're looking to our clients' needs and strengthening our service offering," he said.

"Jay is a talented valuer and brings a fresh perspective to the boardroom table. We're committed to our clients and Hawke's Bay, and Jay's appointment reflects that."

Mr Sorensen is on the Property Institute Standards and Valuation Committee and, as a past member of the Property Institute Young Leaders' committee, encouraged high school students into the property profession.
