Dannevirke Lotto win

One Dannevirke couple are over $1million richer thanks to Lotto.

For a Dannevirke couple who watch the live Lotto draw every week, last Saturday was a little bit different.

The couple, who wished to remain anonymous, won $1 million with Lotto first division, becoming Dannevirke's fourth big winners since 2009.

The winner said her husband had one ticket and she had another, and they were checking numbers off one-by-one as they came out of the machine.

"I didn't believe it, [my husband] started shouting that he thought we had won.

"I knew the only way to know for sure was to see the ticket with my own eyes - but even when I did, it took quite a while to sink in," she said.

The winner said they didn't plan to make any purchases in the near future.

"We will definitely help family and maybe upgrade our cars at some point - whatever we do, the winnings are going to make life just that much easier."

But they wouldn't be changing their daily routine.

The couple, who buy tickets every week, won the million on a $16 Triple Dip ticket purchased at Caltex Westlow.

Caltex manager Malcolm Smith said Lotto's top prize was won at the Caltex 20 years ago and locals considered it a lucky store then.

Previous Dannevirke winners had won $14 million in 2013, $17 million in 2011, and a half share of an almost $35.5 million pool in 2009.
