It may be the time of the year when thinking healthy is not at the top of your list - but next April the first community health expo will bring wellbeing into focus in Dannevirke.

Run by Dannevirke's St John Cadets, the expo at the A&P Showgrounds will give the community an opportunity to learn what is available in all aspects of health and wellbeing, Delwyn Walker, the divisional manager for St John's youth programme, said.

Helping with the organisation of the event is Judy Swenson, a former St John area committee member who has a grandchild in the cadets.

"Our St John cadets usually fundraise by chopping firewood, but this time we've decided to do something different and hope the expo can become an annual event."

The expo will be a fun and educational day for all ages and families and Delwyn said she was hoping to see as many local health groups as possible support the event.
