Cycling: Tour for all shapes, sizes

Tour of the Bay cycle organisers are hoping a new course will boost numbers.

Ramblers Cycling Club is organising the 24th annual Strata Group-sponsored event on Sunday, October 19.

It will start from the Eastern Institute of Technology in Taradale and offers rides for all fitness levels.

Event director Jo Munialo says the 115km and 65km rides will take in the Puketapu loop.

The Rotary Pathway tracks will be used for the 18km and 6km rides.

Munialo says they hope to attract first-time riders as well as regulars.

Entry fees have been reduced and Rob Townsend, of Bayswater Vehicles, is offering a prize of a free use of a car for a year.

Children can enter the 6km iWay Family Fun Pathway Ride for free.

"This is a great major spot prize and it's great to have the likes of Bayswater Vehicles and Strata Group as sponsors," she says.
