A cyclist and a car have crashed on a busy Napier road, with one person taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The crash happened shortly before 9.40am on Wednesday on Meeanee Rd in Taradale, near the intersection with Guppy Rd.

“The road is partially blocked while emergency services are in attendance,” a police spokeswoman said.

Hato Hone St John attended with one ambulance.

“One patient was assessed at the scene and has been transported to Hawke’s Bay Hospital in a serious condition.”
