Sport Hawke's Bay commercial manager Kevin Murphy will leave his role to take up a job at Napier City Council.
Mr Murphy takes on the role of event manager at the council, after he held his post at Sport Hawke's Bay for several years, overseeing funding, sponsorship, promotion and events.
He has managed or promoted a number of events including the Hawke's Bay Sports Awards and the Tremains Triathlon.
He has also co-ordinated events such as the Hawke's Bay Blues, Brews and BBQs Festival, and the Hawke's Bay Sports Ball.
Mr Murphy is currently a trustee of the recently established Backline Charitable Trust, secretary of Napier Marist Football and HB Futsal, a board member of Sportslink, and a former board member of the Hastings Swimming Charitable Trust.
He is also a supporter of Hawke's Bay Today's Bring Yer Boots campaign.
Mr Murphy said he was looking forward to continuing to build on the momentum of event support that the council had achieved so far, and to working with promoters and organisations in forming future partnerships for the city.
Council chief executive Wayne Jack said he was happy to welcome Mr Murphy.
