The weekend brought with it the highs and lows of summer weather, with Saturday providing warm temperatures and sunny skies, while yesterday was much cooler.
MetService meteorologist April Clark said an "improving trend" would start the week off.
"Though southerlies and cloud in the east linger behind a weak frontfrom yesterday, things should fine up tomorrow, though isolated showers, some possibly heavy with thunderstorms, are expected about the ranges and central New Zealand tomorrow.
"Temperatures will be pretty stable, with 23C for Monday and Tuesday, 24C for Wednesday and 25C going into Thursday," Ms Clark said.
There will be cloudy periods and a few showers until the afternoon, with northeasterlies today.
