Hawke's Bay Police have released the name of the person killed in a crash east of Ongaonga yesterday morning.

He was 41-year-old Dustin Kirk Sigvertsen, from Waipukurau.

The crash occurred at the intersections of Onga Onga Road and Plantation Road, Waipawa.
Police say a northbound Ford Telstar travelling on Plantation
Road collided with an eastbound Nissan Navara ute on Onga Onga Road at the intersection.

The driver and sole occupant of the Ford Telstar died at the scene.

The Police Serious Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash, and are seeking any witnesses to the crash or anyone who may have seen the silver coloured Ford Telstar sedan heading north from Waipukurau prior to 8am.
