Bryan Adams to headline Hawke's Bay concert

Hawke's Bay will play host to a legendary Canadian musician early next year.

Bryan Adams will be in Tukituki Valley on January 6 to end his four-date New Zealand summer tour.

He will be supported by Kiwi music icons Dave Dobbyn and the Jordan Luck Band (Luck is the former lead singer and songwriter of the Exponents).

Adams was last in New Zealand in 2013 with his Bare Bones Tour but this will be the first time since 2003 that he will bring his full live band as part of his Get Up world tour.

Thousands are expected to flock to Black Barn Vineyards Offsite in the Tukituki Valley and Black Barn Vineyards event manager Francis de Jager said the concert is being billed as one of the biggest gigs to ever come to Hawke's Bay.

"This will place the region in front of people who may otherwise head to other parts of the country to see these types of shows.

"In the height of summer this will bring several thousand extra visitors to the region, boost accommodation nights, fill up cafes and restaurants, as well other great Hawke's Bay experiences.

"Bryan Adams is the perfect artist to create a brilliant winery concert experience."

Having such a significant artist at Black Barn is the fruition of plans to bolster the venue's concert experience and they had brought the "world's best" to help them run the gig, he said.

Foamhand, an international events management company which has worked on events including the London and Rio Olympics, has put in a traffic and crowd management strategy in place to prevent any issues due to a large number of concertgoers expected.

Foamhand managing partner Calum Nicholson said buses will be the best mode of transport to and from the venue due to the large crowd.

"For Black Barn Vineyards Offsite, we have considered patron convenience, the number of people we are trying to move and where they are coming from, and the best available transport modes," he said.

Buses will run on a rotating schedule to deliver concertgoers to and from the concert.

"This is definitely the best option, and will help to ensure people can access and exit the venue efficiently."

The return "Park and Ride" bus services will run from a series of locations around Hawke's Bay, with limited, paid parking to be made available at the venue itself which needs to be pre-purchased from Neptune Entertainment.

"The organisers need to limit access and reduce, and slow, traffic around the event, for an occasion as popular as the Bryan Adams concert," Mr Nicholson said.

People wanting to be dropped off and collected could face lengthy delays and would be better using the bus shuttle services, he said.

Adams' New Zealand show comes on the back of a successful world tour across the US, UK, Middle East, South America, South Africa and Europe.

Adams sold more than 65 million records worldwide, making him one of best-selling music artists of all time.

In 2015, he released his first album in seven years Get Up, produced by Jeff Lynne (E.L.O), featuring the hit single You Belong To Me.

The tour starts on January 2 at Matakana Country Park north of Auckland, then travels to the TSB Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth on January 4, and ASB Baypark Stadium in Mount Maunganui on January 5, before winding up at Black Barn Vineyards in Hawke's Bay on January 6.

Pre-sale tickets will be available on Wednesday from 10am to 10pm with general ticket sales starting on Thursday at 10am.
