You will notice some changes in your copy of Hawke's Bay Today on Monday and for the rest of the week.
Improvements are being made to your paper in a bid to give you an even more enjoyable read.
The changes are made possible because the paper is now beingprinted on a new printing press. Beacon Print has opened a new site in Wilson Rd, Hastings, and it means the paper can now be printed in one single run, and black and white pages are a thing of the past.
Hawke's Bay Today editor Andrew Austin said the new press opened up a world of opportunities.
Mr Austin said it was important that newspapers constantly looked to improve and change for the better.
"In the past two years we have moved to become a morning paper and we have changed to compact format. This is a continuation of that process."
The biggest change is the moving of entertainment guide Vibe from a Thursday to a Wednesday.
"We decided Wednesday needed a bit of a lift so we have moved our very popular Vibe magazine, complete with the seven-day television guide, from a Thursday."
The rural section Heartland will remain on a Thursday and will include two of our popular Outdoor columnists, Gary Kemsley (Fishing) and Hans Willems (Hunting and Tramping).
The gardening section remains on a Friday, as does the racing liftout.
Another big change to the weekday paper will see the crossword pages, television page and weather map move to the back of the paper next to the classified advertisements. The back page will still be the main sports page, with the rest of sport flowing on after the classified pages.
In another change, Dannevirke News pages move from the back of the paper to the front, just behind the local news pages.
Details of changes to Hawke's Bay Today Weekend will be announced tomorrow.
