Boy's leg stuck in Napier swing

A youngster's painful plight on a swing at a popular Napier seafront playground has proved a timely reminder about child safety heading into the busy holiday season.
The boy's leg became stuck in the swing at the Marine Parade playground about midday yesterday.
He was freed only after the arrival of a fire service crew who used a greasy application from a first aid kit.
Station Officer Peter Draper said the boy was probably too big for the swing.
Several people tried to extricate the child before the fire service was called at 12.37pm, and the St John Ambulance Service was called. They treated the boy's slightly swollen leg at the scene.
