Everyone from passionate fashionistas to serious punters will flock through the Hastings race course gates tomorrow for the biggest day on the Hawke's Bay racing calendar.

The Livamol Classic is back again and Hawke's Bay Racing president Andrew Castles said the excitement was building.

"It is turning out to be one of Hawke's Bay's most glamorous events, which everyone can enjoy."

"With good racing action, serious fashion and gourmet food there is plenty of fun to be had."

The gates open at 11am and Mr Castles is crossing his fingers that the weather stays fine.

"The weather is improving and we just hope the sun shines tomorrow as we could see a crowd of up to 7000 people."

He said they had already pre sold all of their hospitality packages but general admission tickets were still available on the day for $25.

The Livamol Classic group one race begins at 4.41pm and the favourite is Rasa Lila whose being ridden by Leith Innes.

Leith Innes rode Kawi to victory in the previous two meets for the spring carnival so Mr Castles said he was hoping to achieve all three.

"No one has ever done that before in the same year so it would be pretty incredible if he managed to do it."

Those race goers who are planning to dress to impress can enter the Hawaiian Airlines Fashion in the Field, which is being presented by ZM.

"Registrations close at 1pm and the top prize on offer is a trip for two to Hawaii."

For people interested in taking a punt the prestigious Bay Ford Punter of the Year is back for its 29th year.

Mr Castles said they had already received up to 90 registrations and expected more before the racing kicked off.

"Tony Clark has won for the last two years so he has entered again to defend his title."

Mr Castles said the day is fast becoming A Hawke's Bay event that is not to be missed.

"There is plenty of entertainment and fun to be had and hopefully people can back a winner or two as the day goes on."

MetService have forecast for fine spells with a chance of a shower and a high of 18 degrees tomorrow.
