HINERANGI VAIMOSO
From checkout chick to getting checked out.
Sacha Rodda-Bell was still in disbelief yesterday after she walked away with the coveted title of Miss Waimarama at Waimarama Beach Day.
``The other girls were really pretty so I just didn't think I would get it,' Sacha said while lapping up the attention
on the beach afterward.
``I quite like it. I think I could probably get used to it.'
Sacha, a checkout attendant at Pak'nSave, Napier, was enjoying a mother-daughter day with mum Maria Bell when they stumbled across the Miss Waimarama competition.
``Mum made me get up there and do it,' she said with a laugh.
``I did kind of want to do it but Mum was there to give me that encouragement.'
It was the perfect way for the 17-year-old to show off her new hot pink Roxy bikini.
Sacha was up against 19 other bikini-clad teens who had to list their hobbies and career aspirations. Shopping seemed a popular pastime among the contestants, while hairdressing turned out to be the common career choice.
World peace was not on the agenda for any of the teen beauties.
