Thumbs up to the community for staying at home.

Thumbs up to the community for staying at home.

Every week the CHB Mail asks its readers to give a big thumbs up...or maybe a week thumbs down ... to deeds fair and foul around the region.
Here's what the readers were saying this week ...

■ Thumbs up: to the community staying home. Thank you for doing as asked.

■ Thumbs up: to Kiwi Kanz, I thought my bin was due out next week, a man drove past, backed his truck up, looked around, ran up my drive, wheeled my bin out and emptied it.

■ Thumbs up: to the hospital security staff. These true heroes do not get a choice or chance to ask contact/travel questions to those idiots that pose a threat to everyone else. You're amazing — whatever you're getting paid it will never be enough! Thanks guys.

■ Thumbs up: to the supermarket staff, pharmacy staff, medical teams, council, truck drivers, farmers, vets and anyone who has to work to keep things going as smoothly as possible thank you. We know you'd rather be at home safe with your loved ones and we appreciate everything you're doing.

■ Thumbs up: to Woburn Home who went into lockdown early to keep my mum and all the residents safe so we can concentrate on the rest of our precious Whānau. You guys are my heroes.

■ Thumbs up: a massive thumbs up to the Ōtane fire brigade, particularly the Olivers for saving my bacon when we had a massive water leak and lost all our house water ... they are soo busy but still came out late in the night and filled my tanks.

■ Thumbs up: to my mother-in-law, who agreed early to social distancing and remained home. It's not so easy for elderly who love socialising and enjoy seeing people. Activity-wise its a pleasant day out for them all. Proud of her.

■ Thumbs up: Harry at Takapau Foodmarket. I was already in self-isolation and he put my groceries on the footpath for me once I was parked outside.

■ Thumbs up: to Rotary, supported by EPIC and hard-working volunteers who prepared and delivered 2000 Covid packs to Waipukurau households last week.

■ Thumbs up: I had to go to Mitre 10 last week as a whole window (frame and glass) decided to fall out of my house this morning. They are swamped but still so helpful and friendly! Two enthusiastic thumbs up, guys!

■ Thumbs up: to the team at Silver Fern Farms Takapau! You are an essential lifeline for our farmers — you do the hard mahi, in a tough environment and now you have to deal with extra measure due to Covid 19. Kia kaha team! From CHB Mayor Alex Walker.

■ Thumbs up: to the central lines crew that connected our power in the nick of time before lock down so we could live in our caravan on our land. You made such a difference. Thank you so much.

■ Thumbs up: to all the essential workers who are carrying on through this uncertain time.

■ Thumbs up: to the supermarket staff, they have been working frantically to keep the shelves stocked and us shoppers through.Thank you.

■ Thumbs up: to the amazing people at Epic ... they did a fab job delivering all the leaflets about the virus.

■ Thumbs up: to Ōtane School for getting our tamarikis' school pack ready and allowing us to keep their brains engaged!

• Covid19.govt.nz: The Government's official Covid-19 advisory website

■ Thumbs up: I second the supermarket staff, still smiling too.

■ Thumbs up: to the chemist team! That was a crazy amount of scripts they received last week.

■ Thumbs up: to supermarket staff you guys rock.

■ Thumbs up: to any high-risk person who is firmly isolating in a safe haven and to any carers who are helping to keep them safe.

■ Thumbs up: to the team at Mitre10 — a huge thank you for your hard work.

■ Thumbs up: to all the people that are phoning and keeping in touch with one another.

■ Thumbs up: to Paul Jamieson and all teachers at Waipawa Primary for getting school work packs together so quickly for all the students!
