Three Hereworth students scooped the top prize at the Year 8 Hawke's Bay Mathletics competition last week - a first for the school.
The combined brain power of year 8 students Roark Zachary, William Vautier and Riley Kleinert secured the coveted overall win for Hereworth in addition to their win in the non-intermediate category.
But the wins didn't stop there for the Hereworth boys.
Roark and William scored a perfect 100 per cent in the individual problem solving section, and William went on to win the gold medal in the final.
Deputy Head and the boys' maths teacher, Kate Field said it was the first time they had won the year 8 competition.
