Napier Labour MP Stuart Nash and his wife Sarah took advantage of this year's advance voting option at the Marewa polling booth yesterday.

Advance voting started on Monday this week, and Mr Nash said the Labour Party had pushed for voters to take up the option.

"I have been door-knocking and visiting places like EIT encouraging people to vote early, so I thought I should do it too," he said.

On election day itself, which was often the last opportunity candidates took up to do a final plug with a photo at the polling booth, he said he would instead be working behind the scenes with his supporters.
